Do you run out the door in the morning with a cup of coffee and nothing in your stomach? ☕️ This can spike your cortisol → which can spike your blood sugar → which can stress you out → which can cause you to feel anxious, brain foggy, heart racing, sweaty palms, headache-y, and hungry. Quick solve add a scoop of collagen to your coffee and we can avoid that whole situation. You can also add a flavored protein powder if you like a flavored coffee.
Meditation - I know big eye roll - is something I have found really does affect my happiness level. After my divorce, I gave myself a meditation training. It was the most money I ever spent on self-improvement but it was worth my weight in gold. I struggled with anxiety for years. I had insomnia, racing thoughts, woke up 6 - 7 times a night (this is not an exaggeration), was exhausted, guzzled caffeine, and was generally on edge all the time. My brain was not sharp; I had post-it notes haphazardly stuck all over my apartment to prevent forgetting things. My ex-husband moving out did lessen some of these things but it didn’t resolve them. I am not joking when I say the meditation training changed my life. For me, it was like brining the stress levels in my body down to a dull roar and re-setting baseline. I slept through the night for the first time since I was a teenager. Now I sit for 20 minutes every morning and many afternoons. This is a lot and it took time to build those habits. If this sounds interesting try 5 minutes. Use a guided meditation to get started. Schedule the time into your day. Even better, create this new habit by stacking it onto an existing habit like brushing your teeth or walking the dog.
Speaking of meatballs, I am always looking for ways to get more organ meats into people. Super weird, I know but hear me out. Liver is the most nutrient-dense food on the planet!! Better than all of the multivitamins and gummies gathering dust on your kitchen counter combined. I recommend organ meats to any clients who need extra nutritional support - autoimmune disease, leaky gut, recent surgeries, heavy training, recent illness, exhaustion, FLC (feel like crap). So yeah, basically everyone! Most people are really turned off BUT there is a really great way to sneak it in with a ground meat and organ meat combo! You can have your butcher do this for you by asking for 75% ground beef (or meat of choice) and 25% ground liver. You can also buy it pre-made from US Wellness Meats. I use this for any recipe that I use ground meat for - meatballs, chili, tacos, pasta sauce, burgers. It ships in a pack that looks just like ground meat and boom - making your humans healthier one burger at a time!
