The Elimination Diet and Corona; a Love Story Part 3
I personally am a pain upfront kind-of-gal so I went all in the first time and eliminated EVERYTHING. I think I ate bone broth, boiled broccoli, and chicken for a month. Well, maybe some avocados in there but it was pretty intense. I had a very useful list of things that upset my stomach and made me break out at the end of the month. The great news is that I was then able to heal my gut and I have been able to reintroduce all of the foods minus the gluten which I have an allergy to.
Other things to keep in mind: Drink plenty of water! You are in effect detoxing these foods from your body so it helps to flush things out and stay hydrated. Your skin will thank you! Get lots of rest. Sleep is when your body “takes out the trash” and completes its restorative processes. This is physically and emotionally challenging to complete. It requires a lot of prep work and life management but you can do it and will be glad you did after. Move - movement is good for the brain and the body. It will keep things passing through and help keep your mood positive. If anything is feeling weird or off, top the diet and consult a doctor. If you think you need more help to complete the diet see if a friend or family member will do it with you or work with a nutrition professional who can guide you through the process.
